How to access mental health services in Bangladesh?

Specialist mental health services or psychiatric services can be accessed from following institutes/hospitals. In Government Hospitals the services are provided either free or at a very low cost for any Bangladeshi citizen.

National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH),

Sher-E-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka

Psychiatry Department, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU),

Shahbag, Dhaka.

All Government medical college hospitals.

Consultation Psychiatrist

District Level Government Hospitals / Sadar Hospitals.

Psychiatry Department / Psychiatric Service

Private Medical College Hospitals and Corporate Hospitals.

Doctors received training on Mental health Upazila Health Complexes (UHC)

Psychiatric welfare services can be accessed from social welfare service section of all government hospitals.

Very soon a 24-hour countrywide emergency helpline for crisis situations will be inaugurated in NIMH, Dhaka.
